Illie Vega: TBH, I’ve always been around music from my youth days. My mom would always sing and dance in the house, and my dad from Ghana was an avid music lover too, playing old time greats like Sam Cooke and Louis Armstrong.

When I got older, I started managing artist with my brother prior to me getting into it myself.

BH Review: Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your style?

Illie Vega: I listen to everything from the 90s to current day. Growing up in Queens Nas,50 had a huge influence on me growing up. I’d def have to throw Hov and Fab in there as well. As an artist we pull from everything whether we know it or not. One of the guys I been paying attention to lately is Russ, I love how he has created a machine as an independent.

BH Review: Can you describe your creative process when writing and producing music?

BH Review: What challenges have you faced as an artist, and how did you overcome them?

Illie Vega: TBH , I’d say just trying to get everything out and realizing that your old music is new to the ppl who havent heard it. As artist sometimes we are our own biggest obstacles. As of late, I just been learning to let it flow naturally.

BH Review: How do you balance staying true to your artistic vision while also appealing to a broader audience?

Illie Vega: I’d say keeping a fresh ear to the youth especially on the production side, but still making sure I get my message across even if tapering the record to a more modern sound. The main thing is to remain authentic during the process.

BH Review: Are there any collaborations or projects you’re currently working on that you’re excited about?

Illie Vega: Yessir, Vega Genesis on the way. My EP be on the lookout for merch drop as well.

As far as collabs, any one that’s putting in pain and serious about their craft. Definitely a few legends and current dope artist id love to connect with.

BH Review: How do you handle criticism and feedback from fans and critics alike?

Illie Vega: I try to see everything from a constructive lens, and also understand every body has a voice and are entitled to their opinions. We also live in an algorithm based culture which fuels a lot of people to say whatever for clicks. So mostly just looking to stay even keeled.

BH Review: What has been your most memorable performance or moment in your music career so far?

Illie Vega: I’m brand new, yet to perform so probably my music video. Look forward to some live performances soon though.
